“Being so young and so heavy, I was starting to get health issues. At the time I was engaged to be married and I didn’t want to be the ”fat bride”, so my then fiance and I started to get healthy. He was a keen MMA/UFC fan and had heard quite a lot about Mike Dolce and his success stories with fighters. We bought The Dolce Diet book and starting cooking his recipes every night. “When I was 18 and living in Germany I lifted weights four times a week and ran 5k on my “off days” during the rest of the week. I ate the same protein packed meals every day and measured my meals. I was so unhappy with that diet that I had to implement a cheat day where I would just eat anything. After I moved to Denmark for my studies all I did was drink. I was even called the “Beerbong Master”. My eating was mostly pasta with some sort of powder sauce together with sausages and a lot of cheese. I also stopped exercising completely. I basically sat in front of the laptop and died away because I had zero energy. But then I watching these super UFC athletes on TV and it finally hit me. I was 22 years old, almost 6 ft tall and weighed 198 lbs with a fat stomach and a very puffy face. It was time to change. Luckily, my love for MMA saved me because I somehow heard of Mike Dolce and his methods. “I first heard about The Dolce Diet through a friend of mine that is a professional mixed martial artist out of Texas. He swore by it and credited a lot of his success to his weight cuts and ring performance to The Dolce Diet. In the beginning, I was a little unsure on what to expect because I am in no way or form, a pro MMA fighter. But after looking into the system itself and reading some of the reviews, I decided to give it a shot. After all, I had tried everything from the one-meal a day, starve yourself diet to constantly feeding myself diet pills. What did I have to lose? I was always full and eating; there is no possible way I was losing weight, but the number on the scale doesn’t lie. I was down nearly 8 lbs in my first week! “Woke up one day and didn’t even recognize myself anymore. I was 249 lbs, 5’7, with 30% body fat. Now I’m 180 lbs with 19% body fat! Everyday there is a new challenge – hockey, running, weights, swimming. I want to be a good example to my friends, family, and coworkers. The hardest part was making the decision to change my life. “After returning from a vacation to Las Vegas I decided it was time I changed how I looked and to start feeling better about myself in my own body! And not always thinking about my ‘flubber’ while at the pool or the beach. At the time, I weighed approximately 180 lbs with no concept of body fat or what it meant. Prior to this, I was pretty active doing football to soccer, boxing and lifting weights. I never considered myself ‘fat’ but was never in the greatest shape. For the next four months I trained in HIIT circuits and attempted to do what I thought at the time was eating clean. In this period I reduced my weight to 170 lbs. Then a friend at work had loaned a book from the library which turned out to be Living Lean. After a brief read I was intrigued. “My journey to be a better me began when I realized that I no longer felt as I did at the start of college. My physical activity halted once I got out into the real world with a job. I got tired of waking up everyday feeling like a hammered dog turd. I have always been an MMA fan, and I had always admired the fighters and their bodies. I would religiously watch the weigh-ins and secretly wish I had a body half as good as theirs. I also kept hearing the same name… Mike Dolce. I investigated and decided to take the plunge. I had some success with working out without a sound diet, but it wasn’t until I started Living Lean that it all began to come together. The results, my wife, and dogs motivated me to continue and I’ve never looked back. I used to tackle an obstacle everyday at work: being made fun of for eating real food. As a kid I was constantly bullied for being fat and it became something I truly never thought could be solved. About four years ago I reached my heaviest weight of 260 lbs. The day I chose to act on it was when my obese grandmother told me I was fat. The next day I hit the gym. I would train for hours and hours but didn’t see any results because I wasn’t eating right. I would even take multiple fat burners and pre-workout powders to try and fix the problem. I also tried eating less, smaller portions, ‘chicken and broccoli’ only meals, juicing, and fasting (but I would get hungry almost instantly). Nothing worked. Then I started noticing this Dolce Diet t-shirt popping up on the UFC weigh-ins and I did a bit of research. I listened to The Mike Dolce Show podcast just hear what all the noise was about. Then August 2013 I decided to give it a go and I have lived the lean life since then. The diet has changed my entire relationship with food and has given me hope for achieving other goals in my life. “My wife and I planned a vacation to Hawaii. Weighing 225 lbs and having a big beer belly, I didn’t think I would be comfortable taking my shirt off at the beach. One drunk night I emailed a friend who is a fighter, and told him I wanted to lose my gut and look better. He told me he lived by the Living Lean book and that I should try it. I started the diet as a birthday present to myself and started seeing the weight drop off. From 225 lbs I went down to 215 lbs. My original goal was to be 185 lbs by the time we left for Hawaii. Then I started running, turned an old garage into a little gym, and then I dropped down to 205 lbs. I would get stuck on certain weights… 188 was a bitch! But with some advice and some motivation talks from my buddy, I never gave up or ever stopped The Dolce Diet! I finally hit my 185 lbs mark and it felt great! I rejoined Taekwondo and along with the cookbook, I’m now down to 170 lbs! I would never of thought I could weigh 170 bs! I started out very doubtful, but now I tell everyone about it The Dolce Diet. “On my 32nd birthday, I decided I no longer wanted to be fat and unhealthy. I wanted to be here for my two beautiful children. I asked my doctor to send me to a dietician where things got worse. The woman was about 5’2″ and would have probably weighed around 250 lbs. I wondered how someone like this could tell me how to eat. When I got home I asked Eric (my husband) about the UFC guy I hear him talk about all the time. Since then, I have never looked back. As of Feb 1, 2013 I have been on The Dolce Diet. I am already a cancer survivor and I didn’t want to run the risk of developing diabetes like my father had, as my doctor told me I was getting close to that point. By June I had lost 30 lbs and I submitted my first story. In September I was able to meet Mike and my world changed again. Being able to meet the man who changed my life in such a way was so overwhelming. Hearing how Mike and Brandy have spoken about me on the podcasts have helped me keep me motivated. Hi guys, My name is Andy, I live in Liverpool, UK. I’m 28 years old, 5ft 8. I just wanted to share my story with you. You guys have really kept me motivated, I listen to the podcasts constantly and own both of your Living Lean books. I have been in and out of gyms since I was 18. I would get so far but then my progress would halt because I never changed my diet, and I didn’t know anything about food, or even cooking. Before I got your books, I could not even cook! So I learned (still learning!) how to cook by using your recipes. What a great way to start. I’m a small guy, everyone has always told me ‘you don’t need to lose weight,’ ‘You’re too skinny,’ etc., but I knew better, I was ‘skinny fat,’ and I hated it. I eventually became disgusted with what I had done to my body and decided that I needed to change my lifestyle. I was tired of feeling horrible and sorry for myself all the time. I got hold of Living Lean and read it a couple of times. It really changed my outlook towards food and training, and off I went. I have not been to the gym in months, instead I got hold of DVD home training program and stuck to it religiously, I still do, and when UFC FIT comes out I’ll be jumping straight onto it for a change. Thanks to your podcasts and books, I understand just how important food is when we’re trying to get lean and fit. I learned the hard way that training will only get you so far. I’m so much more motivated these days, and I will NEVER go back to what I was, EVER. I still have a long way to go, but I’m up for the challenge and with your coaching I know I’ll be just fine! On August 20th 2012 I began a journey to transform my life from a physical standpoint. Along with my wife I've bên following Mike Dolce's @TheDolceDiet) plan, which despite its name is NOT a diet, but a lifestyle change. I set several short and long term goals for myself, and as of today I've achieved my first long today I've achieved my first long term goal. I am down 100 pounds. I feel great, and I can't wait to keep this going.
